An award-winning CNN journalist, education visionary, and academic strategist, Tanika Gray’s unique combination of formal education, real-world experience, and passion for education reform have established her as one of the country’s emerging young leaders in the classroom, the media, and beyond.
While still working in the school system, world news leader CNN took notice of Gray’s efforts. After a brief stint as an intern with the network, Gray was named Affiliate Content Producer in 2005 and tasked with a variety of high-profile and impactful broadcast duties, including producing, writing, and marketing news segments for CNN’s 900 plus affiliates; collaborating with CNN correspondents, producers, and sales to produce promotional events. From 2008-2009 she also doubled as CNN’s Medical Segment Producer, writing and producing medical packages for CNN affiliates and producing segments for CNN.com, CNN Domestic Television, and the weekly Empowered Patient Health segment.
Gray’s continued work with CNN recently landed her the 2010 Rising Star Journalist Award from the Alliance for Women in Media and she is the recipient of two Peabody awards for her coverage contributions to the 2008 presidential election and the 2010 Gulf Oil Spill.
